Second Hand Lions
What this movie has is Michael Caine and Robert Duval. The screenplay is both unbelievable and shallow, but the messages in it are solid and deep. Especially Duval's performance is extraordinary. The critics obviously aren't overly impressed with this movie and to some extent I can wee why. Comments like "Duvall makes an artful codger, but this Texas-shot movie is just too sentimental."; "slow and ultimately distressing"; and "terribly ineffective family drama"; are not totally without justification. But I more agree with the comment "Secondhand Lions is about the uncles every boy should have, and the summer every boy should spend." In the end it is a fairy tale, and we can all use a good fairytale from time to time. Obviously the Users rating shows most movie goers agree. It's not a big screen must see so if you can't get tot he theatre, take it out as a rental when it becomes available. We liked it.

Storyline From Yahoo: Set in 1960s Texas, this is the story of a timid teenager, Walter (Osment), forced to spend the summer by his irresponsible mother (Sedgwick) with his eccentric (and recently rich) great-uncles (Caine and Duvall) on their farm, as he learns more about their mysterious and dangerous pasts, which we see as flashbacks.
