This movie is a jigsaw puzzle, and ordinarily I like my movies in order. Roger Ebert says "Here is the question we have to answer: Is this approach better than telling the same story from beginning to end?" I think somehow if this movie were in chronological order, it wouldn't have the same effect, The stories in the movie were powerful and well played. Penn, Watts, Del Toro, and Melissa Leo [Del Toro's wife in the film] all give powerful performances, woven into a fictional plot. This gives us a great insight to some of the emotions and struggles of people who are part of organ donations. Those who are involved in giving them, receiving them, and as in many cases, those who may have caused the incident to set up the donation. You may be confused at the start, but not at the end. This movie was released last November and was passed over by many people including myself. But Academy nominations have a way of bringing movies back, and this one is a contender. For the record, although it deals honestly with organ donation, something we might want to share with our children, this is not a movie for children. It will play just as well on video. We recommend it.

Storyline From Yahoo: This film tells the complex interconnected story how the lives of a former drug addict and single mother, Christine (Watts), a terminally ill mathematics professor, Paul (Penn), and a spiritual ex-convict, Jack (Del Toro) intersect both tragically and redemptively following a car accident, including the fact that Christine and Paul have been lovers.
