I always have mixed feelings about Harry Potter movies. On the one hand they are fun to watch, except maybe that stupid game they play on the brooms. On the other hand they have some very scary scenes, leaving them unsuitable for smaller children, who seem to enjoy watching everything except the scary parts. Roger Ebert says: "Harry's world has grown a little darker and more menacing." But like the first two, this movie has lots of good, and some not so good, lessons in it. Again using Roger Ebert: "Harry is no longer the long-suffering victim but zaps an unpleasant dinner guest with a magical revenge that would be truly cruel if it were not, well, truly funny." On the balance I continue to think Harry Potter movies are a positive influence for the people they most appeal to. We recommend it for all except very young children.
