It's no surprise that the critics did not embrace this movie. I can only say that Judy and I were moved by and enjoyed this movie immensely. Roger Ebert, who was one critic who actually liked the movie, said this: "Now here is a story that could have been a tearjerker, but -- no, wait, it is a tearjerker, it's just that it's a good one".
The fact that perhaps the love story is a little too common, did not deter us from being caught up in the emotion of both the present-day story as well as the flashback. For the most part the people in this movie did the right things, for the right reasons, with the right results. No doubt to some extent a lot of us will face similar situations later in our lives. This didn't stay in theatres all that long but now that it's out on rental, you should treat yourself to a heart warming movie. You may have trouble getting it right now. This week it was the number 1 rental at our Blockbuster store.
