This movie was the most heart warming movie I have seen this year. The title actually includes "Inspired by a True Story" According Roger Ebert "the movie "Dreamer" is based on a true story of the unthinkable: A horse that broke a bone and came back to race again. She was Mariah's Storm, winner of the 1995 Breeders' Cup." I suspect that's mostly where the "Inspired by" ends, especially when the original screenplay called for a boy to play the role ultimately played by Dakota Fanning. But with those things said, the rest is just great. I had tears through 3/4 of the movie for reasons I won't even begin to explain. The casting was perfect with Kurt Russell, Kris Kristofferson, Elisabeth Shue in their roles. This movie moves to the top of my top ten for 2005. Don't miss taking in this great family movie.

Storyline From Yahoo: Ben Crane was once a great horseman, whose gifts as a trainer were now being wasted on making other men's fortunes. Sonya was a great horse whose promising future on the racetrack was suddenly cut short by a career-ending broken leg. Considered as good as dead to her owner, who also happens to be Ben's boss, Sonya is given to Ben as severance pay, along with his walking papers. Now, it will take the unwavering faith and determination of Ben's young daughter, Cale, to bring these two damaged souls together in a quest for a seemingly impossible goal: to win the Breeders' Cup Classic.
