Chicago Tribune, Michael Phillips says: "While Nicholson relishes his role, there is such a thing as too much relish." And that's exactly true. The acting overall is very good but the story only serves to kill a lot of people. Still the story keeps the viewer interested and as such has to be considered a good movie. So while I cannot say it was a great movie, as it seems most critics do, it definitely is meritorious. Rated R for strong brutal violence, pervasive language, some strong sexual content and drug material, this movie is not for all, and Judy's rating is indicative of that. It has no merit whatsoever for younger people. Would be equally watchable on DVD so if you can stand to wait, do so.
