A visit to Edmonton and Gunnar is walking.

And a week before his first birthday he's off and walking. A little wobbly here, but Mike declared him officially walking.

This Week In Our Lives - Nov 12, 2006
An anniversary, Jamie leaves for England, and old chesterfield - the rest of the story.
We went to Calgary to celebrate the one year anniversary of the kidney transplant. Karen served us a wonderful meal, and we reminised.
Jamie flew out for England Saturday to be with Ade.
They fought on different sides but we remember both our fathers.
From last week, Rio saw the picture of the old couch and pointed out it was not Kyra who carved that K but rather her. She was on the way to making an R that didn't work out so left it as a K. Rio would like the credit for her work, and so it should be.
This Week In Our Lives - Nov 5, 2006
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUDY! - Ade leaves for England, old chesterfield, and a few changes to this web site.
Still smiling and looking great at 21 + a few.
Ade flew out for England today. Bon Voyage!
...and Jamie wanted to go along. Oh well only 4 more days and she's on her way too.
We got a new chesterfield downstairs, but before the old one left Judy saved a memory of a "K" carved in the arm rest by Kyra.

Siding, new treadmill, dogs, and a couple of movies
The new look. After 1 year after we received the quote the new siding is on. Looks great. The tree has also grown.
And just in case you forgot what it looked like, this was a 2003 shot. September also, about the same temperature too.
We also got a new treadmill. After 8 years the Free Spirit was still in good shape but a part failed and was not available anymore. This is a Bodyguard 260. Nice!
Although Grace has her own cushion, sometimes she wants to be closer to the other two.
This Week In Our Lives - September 10, 2006
A trip to Grande Prairie and other things
I went to Grande Prairie, and while I was gone the house changed colour. After 10 months of waiting the new siding is under way.
On the way back I stopped in Fox Creek to see how things had changed in 28 years. This was the last house we lived in.
I stayed Friday night with Mike and Jen. Gunnar was in a cuddling mood and spent quite some time sleeping on Grampa.
Saturday I watched Seven Devil Fix play at the Harvest Moon Festival in Hawrelak Park in Edmonton.

Rio Gets English Hair, the Dogs Come Home, and Two Flags
Yikes!! Rio what happened to your hair? Is that what they call an English Mop?
The dogs return from 12 days at the kennel. They must not sleep there at all because when they come home that's all they do for 2 days. "Quiet please"
Two real flags. When Germany was in the world cup, I wanted a German flag to support the German team and didn't have one, so I digitally put one on my flag pole. [See Archives July 2] Since then I have received two. One from swimming colleagues Piet and Ina Visser. Then while in Texas Deanna brought another back from England. Also Brain found this official German soccer shirt, so I'm ready for the next world cup.
Thanks Jones family. Thanks Vissers.

Just a Short 38 Years Together
We celebrated our 38th wedding Anniversary
I bought Judy a new battery powered grass trimmer, or "Weed Whacker" as Judy likes to call it. Now I know what you're thinking, what a romantic! Well she asked and I accommodated.
Anyway with her injury she let me use it for the first time. Now that's love isn't it?
She also received flowers, and a blizzard.
I received a new clock radio with a CD player. Happy awakening!
And guess who might be back?

Tribute to My Father June 27, 1915 to Feb 9, 2006 --- Feb 12, 2006
Fritz Christof Perschon, was born in Germany, and like so many young Germans, had to serve his time in the German Military. My dad was a pilot and flight instructor in the Luftwaffe. During WW2 he married my mom, and by the end of the war had two children. [I came after the war] For those who may not know, the Allies pulled all the pilots licenses of the Luftwaffe pilots after the war, and so my father took up his alternate trade, carpentry. He opened a small shop doing finish carpentry. Things were very hard after the war and there was not much money in the country so work was sparse. In 1954 my mom and dad made a huge decision to emigrate to Canada, the land of opportunity. My dad found work in Calgary almost immediately and our life in Canada was off and running. However in 1956, only 2 years in Canada, two significant things happened that created a huge decision again for my dad. First the Marshall Aid Program was a US post war effort to rebuild Germany and millions of dollars were poured into the country. My dad could return to re-open his carpentry business and would have had more work than he could handle. The prospects looked good. But more significant, the German Air Force was allowed to fly again, and were recalling their instructors. The whole family in Germany was putting pressure on for dad to bring the family back. But dad [and mom] decided they were here now, and believed the outlook for the children would be better here. And thus he sacrificed his own career for the children. And that was what my dad was all about, giving and sacrificing. After the war he took in orphaned and poor youth even though we had little ourselves. He was strict in raising his children, a fact me [and my backside] can attest to first hand. But he taught me honesty, integrity, and so many other things that have stood me well in my life's walk. He was always involved in the church, and was by all accounts, not perfect, but a great man! After retirement he returned to Germany to live out his life in his homeland. We had the great privilege to visit him in 2004 and 2005. When we left last summer we cried our tears, as we knew most assuredly that it would be the last time we would see him alive. Dad once told me, don't bother coming to my funeral, come while I'm still alive. And although he was in the hospital last summer, he had a big smile for us all. And so it is with this picture, taken the last week of January 2006 by my cousin Horst Brouwer.
Thanks dad - for everything. God willing, we'll see you there!!

Not much of consequence happened...Feb 5, 2006
But right now we can always use a picture of Gunnar, with Gramma making him laugh.
We downloaded this one from Mike's website Gotthammer.com. Thanks Mike
